The Board of Regents at the University of Texas is considering taking Lions Municipal Golf Course away from the public at the end of the current lease with the City of Austin's Parks and Recreation Department. The University has hired a Master Planner to design two plans for entire Brackenridge Tract, including the golf course.
In 1910, the University of Texas was bequeathed the Brackenridge tract on which Lions Municipal Golf Course is located. Twice before they have announced their intention to redevelop the property, but each time they were met with such public outcry they changed their plans and allowed many, many more people, young and old, to enjoy this beautiful, historic greenspace.
